Workshop
Bye bye, biases! Designing solutions that leave nobody behind
Antonio Grillo
Hosted by NDDN
Discover how to reduce frictions, embrace diversity, and design inclusive solutions that leave
nobody behind.
Digital transformation and technology diffusion are radically changing our ability to dialogue with the context leading to benefitting some and forgetting about others. The resulting social responsibility calls upon not only designers but also companies to take action since every design decision can influence the inclusion or exclusion of people. The inclusive approach focuses on people's diversity and its impact on design decisions to achieve solutions for all.
You will learn:
• Recognize biases and embrace diversity
• Use unbiased versions of typical design tools
• Let everyone participate equally using an inclusive way of work
Workshop tickets are sold separately from other conference events.
Outline
During this journey, each group will work as a design team from the beginning until the end.
The first phase will focus on personal biases, asking each designer to identify the lenses through which they observe the world.
Following, we will install inclusive ways of work for the design teams, allowing all members to participate equally.
Lastly, we will introduce alternative tools to help empathize with our audience's diversity to reduce physical-cognitive, cultural, and economic frictions along the design process.
Target audience
This workshop is for all; no pre-requisites needed.
It's aimed at both designers and business professionals.
We believe that designers must be capable of dialoguing with diversity throughout their everyday work. On the other hand, business professionals can benefit from Inclusive Design, too, as it helps them increase their product marketability and positively influences their company's reputation.
