Future City OS: how to operate the city in 2030

Gabriele Demarin & Luca Mascaro

Hosted by Sketchin

Experience how creating alternative future visions can transform the way we design today’s product /services.

The future is a matter of vision, ambition and plan. Design can be the driving force to create alternative scenarios and define preferable futures.

Can we go beyond the smart city concept? Can we imagine how the city will be operated in 2030? Can we design different visions for the city management and service delivery for the citizens? The workshop aims at creating alternative scenarios of the city of the future and showing how the speculative design approach can change the way we envision today’s products and services.

Workshop tickets are sold separately from other conference events.

Outline

This workshop is made by different design sessions: in the first one, we will imagine a scenario that describes how the city will be operated ten years from now, then we will move back and ideate solutions for today consistent with the developed future scenario, and we will debate on the desirability of the future we have envisioned.

Target audience

The workshop is for both designers and professionals, no prior experience is required.
