Trainable User Interface, how products can learn from users through machine learning on the edge

Massimo Banzi

Exploring how to use machine learning on the edge to create products which can learn from users interactions.

In the last few years I’ve been experimenting with using machine learning on small devices to experiment with devices which can lear from users and adapt. I will present the journey i followed and explain what is the status of ML on the Edge and how this can applied to tangible UIs. I’ve called this Trainable User Interfaces

About the speaker

Massimo Banzi

I'm an Interaction Designer, Educator and Entrepreneur. My main interest is democratising technology and innovation. A few years ago while teaching at Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, I co-founded Arduino which has enabled millions of people to learn how to use electronics and software as a creative tool. Arduino was also the first successful Open Source Hardware project. Currently I'm the CTO of Arduino but I still teach Physical Computing at SUPSI in Lugano and CIID in Copenhagen. Before Ivrea I worked as a Software Architect for a number of companies between Milan and London. I learned electronics at 8 years old using a toy designed by Dieter Rams which started my love for technology and design.
