Take a tour into the heart of Turin to discover the region’s most typical food and wine as well as amazing examples of interaction design.

Please note that this tour is outside of the official Interaction Week 2020 program. The tour is organized and hosted by Circolo del Design. Tickets cost 40 EUR per person; a ticket includes all transport services, meals, and eno-gastronomic experiences.

Program

10 am Departure from Milan (Central Station)
11 am Arrival in Turin
11.30 am - 1 pm Chocolate, coffee and ice cream (Mara dei Boschi)
1.30 - 3 pm Lunch and wine tasting (MagazziniOz)
3 - 4 pm Short walk throughout the city center

4 - 5.30 pm Presentation of six design studios in Turin at the Circolo del Design (together with the other tour)
6 pm Aperitif and visit at the Officine Grandi Riparazioni (together with the other tour)
10 pm Return to Milan (Central Station)

Mara dei Boschi is Turin’s center of ice cream innovation. Using only the best ingredients to preserve nature’s authentic flavors, the shop forms part of a local network devoted to in-depth study and research on gelato, coffee, chocolate and contemporary art and design. A fixture of the San Salvario district since 2012, it gets its name from a particularly firm and flavorful strawberry variety known as “mara des bois.”

Magazzini Oz is a culinary experience initiated by CasaOz, an organization where people come together to study, play, discover and share. CasaOz builds communities and fosters societal bonds through its projects and activities, and MagazziniOz’s sole aim as an eatery is to make the magic happen: magic that goes beyond the non-profit, and connects us all through food

Circolo del Design is an open, inclusive and engaging space that exists to tell the stories of the people and companies that have shaped Piedmont’s identity. It’s a center of research on the contemporary and experimental, aimed at those that have led and supported the avant-garde in various design fields. With a rich and diverse schedule of conferences, exhibitions, workshops and special projects, the space serves as a multi-functional hub – which includes a carefully curated shop and design library.

The Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR) is a majestic industrial complex dating back to the late 1800s. Built at the very heart of Turin, it was central to the city’s growth for approximately one century. After being shut down in the early 1990s, it took one thousand days of renovation to bring it back to life as an engine for creativity, culture and entertainment. As of 2019 the OGR is once again a “factory” of knowledge - a hub for scientific, technological and industrial research, dedicated to digital innovation as well as creative and social contexts. The tour will also stops for a visit of OGR Tech!

An international design and innovation office based in Torino, Carlo Ratti Associati also has branches in the UK and US. Drawing on Carlo Ratti’s research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Senseable City Lab, the office is currently involved in many projects across the globe, ranging from interiors to urban planning.

Founded in 2011, Enhancers take care of the whole digital product chain, from vision to blueprint, design, implementation and evolution. They generate real innovation through design thinking, lean UX and agile production models - all applied with a hands-on attitude.

Experientia is an international, independent, award-winning UX research and service design agency. They work to rethink how things operate and design cutting-edge solutions that align products and services with people’s behaviors, actions and aspirations.

Founded in 2011 by Lowie Vermeersch and a team of experts, Gran Studio expands beyond the car into the broader field of mobility. They argue that only by adopting the future mobility perspective, can we understand its changing role and see new possibilities for innovative mobility means.

Partnering with companies that work to innovate the user experience, Pininfarina helps with everything along the way, from UX to business design, physical and digital design, and marketing strategies as well.

An independent practice established in 2007, TODO consists of a diverse, multidisciplinary team. They’ve built a great international network of design and communication professionals. The studio works to envision, design, and bring their clients’ special projects to life - whether they be brands, spaces, interactive experiences, products, or beyond.
